WAYS WE HELP

Meaningful Work. Unforgettable Experiences.

World Ministries Outreach to Children Project is in the business of changing and shaping lives. The work we do at our Non-Profit Organization is aimed at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

HOMELESS OUTREACH

With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. Learn more about our work and how you can help?

Fighting Hunger

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. Food collection is something that we take very seriously, and our team is working each and every day to make an impact on hunger. It's hard to communicate compassion to someone with an empty stomach.  So we fill that empty space with food and the empty heart with hope.

Sharing Center for those who want to give donations.

We accept donations of anything that is useful and usable.  Computers for  student and adult education, clothing, usable furniture, appliances and multiple household items. This year we distributed 30 artificial Christmas trees to families that never had trees before. To see the joy on their faces was a delight. We can do minor repairs but ask that donations are clean and usable.

PS. Please call ahead for big loads!

Our Story

1 piece at a time_edited.png

Get to Know Us : The OTC story started over 20 years ago while delivering food to homeless people in Tucson's parks. They couldn't use what we offered and stated they had plenty of places to eat. We then discovered many children home alone with no food in the house. The most concentrated area of need was and is " Little Mexico" (as shown on the map). As we brought food to homes, other needs became apparent. Eventually, we moved into the area and became neighbors while providing a place to eat, play and learn with adult role models and mentoring educators. A new generation has arrived with new challenges, the streets are crowded with immigrants and homeless people, local schools have fentanyl overdoses every week and parents are away working two jobs to make ends meet: leaving children home alone. World Ministries  volunteers work daily to meet physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs.

The Outreach Center is a place where children can come to play, learn, and grow. Our center is filled with laughter and joy as children engage in various activities, from playing games to creating art. We believe that play is an essential part of childhood, and we are proud to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore and have fun. Check out our gallery to see some of the happy moments we've captured.

The challenges we face

The post Covid  and governmental reality in the neighborhoods we serve does not reflect recovery and prosperity. Former jobs no longer exist, school districts are not working on remediation of educational losses from school shut downs but advancing students  regardless of their success. Finances are  low and frustrations are at high levels with no easy answers in sight. The Outreach to Children Project works to supply needs, support education and bring hope in a troubled time.
